Fall River- On Thursday, March 15, 2018 the Sophomore and Pre-Ap English classes watched a special performance of Macbeth by the Bay Colony Shakespeare Company.

The event was sponsored by a grant from the Fall River Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported in part by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

The Bay Colony Shakespeare Company had eight actors perform the play and even with that small number, all the characters in Macbeth were featured.

“I really liked it! It’s cool how the actors could play so many different roles and maintain the memorization of all those lines,” said sophomore Zachary Carmenatty.

Sophomore Lindsey Pimentel, hoped that the play would help her with her MCAS exam. “I was waiting for the witches to say their prophecy on MacBeth, so I was happy seeing it preformed out in front of me. It’s definitely more visual and easy to follow than the book, so I think it’ll help us for MCAS,” said Pimentel.

Actor Rachel Tondreault, a graduate of Durfee’s Class of 2010, played the roles of a Witch, Seyton, Sirrah, and Fleance.

“I think it's better with fewer people. And it's better for one person to have multiple parts," said Tondreault. "But we only had two weeks of rehearsal. Auditions were 4-5 months beforehand."

Overall, the performance had executive a number of applause and gratitude on behalf of the Durfee students.
